The Thrive Ignite is the latest addition to the Thrive lineup and marks their official entry into the Gen-4 full foam core world. In a market currently flooded with hollow, "all-gas no brakes" paddles, the Ignite stands out by giving users a dense, controlled feel without sacrificing firepower.
After 10+ hours of intensive court time, here is my deep dive into how the Ignite performs and where it sits in the current pickleball paddle landscape.
The TL;DR: Quick Verdict
The Thrive Ignite is a dense and stiff feeling, hybrid-shape paddle featuring a full foam core and impressive grit longevity.
• Play Profile: Similar to the JOOLA Pro V lineup (Mid-High Power / High-Mid Pop).
• Feel Profile: Reminiscent of the Six Zero Coral and Black Opal—stiff, dense and "connected."
• Best For: Players who want good offensive capabilities without the uncontrollable pop of hyper power paddles.

Technical Specifications
My specific unit was tested without any perimeter weighting, with an overgrip applied.
• Static Weight: 7.9 ounces (8.15 ounces with overgrip)
• Swing Weight: 112.5 (Average)
• Twist Weight: 6.5 (Above average)
• Core: Gen-4 Full Foam Core
• Surface Layup: Clear Fusion Grit, Carbon Fiber and Fiberglass
Firepower: Power & Pop
The Ignite’s play profile is eerily similar to the JOOLA Pro V series, which is a high compliment.
• On Full Swings (Serves, Drives, Overheads): The paddle delivers power in the middle of the high tier. You won't struggle to put the ball away, though this isn’t Boomstik level. Perimeter weighting could bump power up.
• On Shorter Swings (Counters, Resets, Blocks): The paddle sits on the high end of the mid-tier.
This balance is the Ignite's "secret sauce." You have enough offense to hang in the modern fast-paced game, but you maintain a level of control that hyper-power paddles simply don't offer.
Control & "Clear Fusion Grit"
With "all-court" paddles like the Six Zero Coral gaining popularity, many players are realizing that excessive pop (responsiveness off short swings) often causes more trouble than raw power.
The Ignite sits just above the Coral in terms of pop. When you combine that controllable response with an above-average sweet spot, the control is top-tier for a paddle with this rate of offense.
The Spin Test
Thrive’s “Clear Fusion Grit” has shown promising results.
• Topspin shots dip hard and stay in.
• After 10+ hours, I have felt zero drop-off in spin capabilities.
• Time will tell us more, but at the very least I can confidently say that this grit will outperform traditional raw carbon faces in terms of longevity.
Customization & Maneuverability
One unique feature Thrive offers is the ability to choose your swing weight preference (Extra Light, Light, Medium Light, or Medium) at purchase.
Because the stability and sweet spot were so good out of the box on my 112.5 SW unit, I only added an overgrip. While it isn't the "fastest" paddle on the market, I never felt slow at the kitchen. If hand speed is your #1 priority, I recommend opting for the Extra Light configuration or elsewhere altogether because the Ignite just isn’t a crazy fast paddle.

Comparison: Ignite vs. Thrive Fury
If you are upgrading from a previous generation Thrive model, here is what to expect:
The biggest difference is the Gen-4 construction. The Fury series has a more "hollow" honeycomb feel, while the Ignite feels stiffer and dense.
As far as specific shapes and their play profiles, compared to the Ignite:
-Fury Hybrid is poppier, with similar power and maneuverability.
-Fury Elongated has similar pop, with slightly higher power and lower maneuverability.
-The Ignite out-spins the Fury altogether.
Final Recommendations
The Thrive Ignite is an easy recommendation for:
1. Players who love a dense, stiff feel and want one of the more balanced foam power paddles on the market.
2. Players moving from a control paddle to their first power paddle (the transition is very smooth because of the toned-down pop).
3. Anyone looking for promising grit retention and durability because of the foam core.
I would not recommend this to "all gas, no brakes" players who want the absolute highest power ceiling possible. But for everyone else, the Ignite is a balanced beast that will be staying in my bag for the foreseeable future.
